More about Kiss
Kiss, the American rock band formed in New York City in January 1973, is renowned for its members' face paint and flamboyant stage outfits. The original lineup consisted of Paul Stanley (rhythm guitar, vocals), Gene Simmons (bass guitar, vocals), Ace Frehley (lead guitar, vocals), and Peter Criss (drums, vocals). Kiss quickly became icons of the glam rock era with their theatrical live performances, which featured fire breathing, blood-spitting, smoking guitars, and pyrotechnics. The band's self-titled debut album was released in 1974, but it was their live album 'Alive!' in 1975 that catapulted them to stardom, showcasing their electric concert experience. Kiss's music, a hard-hitting mix of rock and roll, heavy metal, and glam, spawned a series of hit albums throughout the 1970s. By the early 1980s, the original lineup began to dissolve, but Stanley and Simmons kept the band going with new members. In 1996, the original quartet reunited, complete with their iconic makeup, for a highly successful tour. Over the decades, Kiss has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling bands of all time. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014, a testament to their enduring influence and legacy in the world of rock music.
