More about Kent

Kent, a band hailing from Eskilstuna, Sweden, emerged in the early 1990s and quickly established themselves as one of Scandinavia's most influential and enduring rock bands. Initially formed under the name Jones & Giftet by vocalist Joakim Berg and guitarist Sami Sirviö, the band underwent several name and lineup changes before settling on Kent. Their self-titled debut album was released in 1995, marking the beginning of a prolific career that would span over two decades. Known for their poetic lyrics, often exploring themes of love, despair, and societal issues, and their distinctive blend of rock, pop, and electronic elements, Kent found both critical and commercial success. Albums like 'Isola' (1997) and 'Hagnesta Hill' (1999) showcased their ability to evolve musically, earning them a dedicated fan base not only in Sweden but also internationally. Despite singing primarily in Swedish, Kent's music transcended language barriers, particularly with the English versions of 'Isola' and 'Hagnesta Hill'. Throughout their career, Kent received numerous awards and accolades, solidifying their status as rock icons in Sweden and beyond. The band announced their decision to disband in 2016, releasing their final album 'Då Som Nu För Alltid' and embarking on a farewell tour, leaving behind a legacy of 12 studio albums that continue to influence the Scandinavian music scene.
