More about Kent
Kent, a band hailing from Eskilstuna, Sweden, emerged in the early 1990s and quickly became one of Scandinavia's most beloved and critically acclaimed rock bands. Initially formed under the name Jones & Giftet (Jones & The Poison), they later changed to Havsänglar (Sea Angels) before settling on Kent. The band's lineup solidified around Joakim Berg (lead vocals and primary songwriter), Martin Sköld (bass guitar and keyboards), Sami Sirviö (lead guitar), Markus Mustonen (drums, keyboards, and backing vocals), and Harri Mänty (rhythm guitar, joining in the mid-90s). Kent's music, characterized by melancholic melodies, introspective lyrics predominantly in Swedish, and a blend of alternative rock and synth-pop, resonated deeply with a wide audience. Their breakthrough came with the release of their second album, 'Verkligen' (1996), and they continued to build their legacy with subsequent albums like 'Isola' (1997), which included an English version to reach international audiences, and 'Hagnesta Hill' (1999). Over the years, Kent experimented with their sound, incorporating electronic elements and broader musical influences, which kept their discography fresh and engaging. Despite their success and a loyal fan base, Kent announced their decision to disband in 2016, releasing their final album 'Då Som Nu För Alltid' and embarking on a farewell tour. Kent's influence on the Swedish music scene and alternative rock is undeniable, leaving behind a legacy of poetic storytelling, innovative soundscapes, and a deep emotional connection with fans around the globe.
