More about The Strokes
Formed in 1998 in New York City, The Strokes emerged as leading figures of the early 21st century garage rock revival, captivating audiences and critics alike with their debut album, 'Is This It' (2001). The band, consisting of Julian Casablancas (vocals), Nick Valensi (guitar), Albert Hammond Jr. (guitar), Nikolai Fraiture (bass), and Fabrizio Moretti (drums), quickly became synonymous with cool, effortless style and a sound that blended the rawness of 70s punk with 80s indie influences. Despite facing the challenge of living up to their initial success, The Strokes continued to evolve, releasing albums such as 'Room on Fire' (2003) and 'First Impressions of Earth' (2006), which saw them experimenting with their sound while maintaining their distinctive edge. After a period of solo projects and rumors of disbandment, the group returned with 'Angles' (2011) and 'Comedown Machine' (2013), showcasing a more polished and eclectic approach to their music. The Strokes' legacy was further cemented with their 2020 album, 'The New Abnormal,' which won them their first Grammy Award, proving that their influence on the rock genre remains as relevant as ever.
